You know, I’ve found a lot of really cool stuff just messing around with RYM’s chart feature, and just seeing what cool genre combinations are out there. This one I found by looking up albums that had both a hip hop and comfy synth primary. That’s one of my favorite things about this site, just finding all sorts of weird and unknown music out there. This one is another cool find!

As you might be able to guess from the album cover and the song titles, this album is absolutely adorable. Soothing comfy synth instrumentation is combined with chill, laidback lo-fi hip hop beats (to study and relax to, of course) to create a cozy, nostalgic vibe. On the album’s Bandcamp page, the artist actually uses “Animal Crossing” as a tag to describe the music, and the charming down-home nature is a perfect way to describe this gem. It’s essentially lo-fi hip hop created within the universe of an old Nintendo DS game, with delightfully “tacky” synths that will make you feel like a kid again. This is just so pure, and I love it!

If you ever felt like reliving the carefree days of your childhood, this album is a great way to do so.
