I really couldn't think of a better first album to represent the Subterranean Music Index. Ever since the YouTube algorithm blessed me with the phenomenal “10,000 Dead Roses” about a year ago, I have been in love with this band. In fact, this is the band that really kickstarted my obsession with obscure, short lived emo bands, particularly from the ‘90s. And finally, we have the complete (as of right now) works of one of the most unfairly little known cult bands.

And what a collection this is! This is, in my mind, the greatest collection of emo songs to ever exist, and in fact, might actually be the very apex of rock music. You’ll immediately notice the very low budget production. This is a very raw and kinda noisy album, yet at the same time highly melodic, and absolutely gorgeous. These tracks have a sort of ethereal beauty to them, and a sense of childlike wonder and innocence. And those angelic twee-esque vocals, goodness gracious! This is some very pretty Midwest emo, yet it still has plenty of rough around the edges post-hardcore punch, so don’t just assume that this is generic, lifeless Kinsella-core noodlewank math crap. No, this humble little fanmade bootleg comp is truly special.

I know this word gets thrown around a lot online, but this is a genuine masterpiece. If you consider yourself an emo fan and yet you’re not familiar with Endive, then you need to fix that immediately, or forever live in shame.
